Can I close up the Desktop ?

I want to be able to close up the desktop like you do with all the other main folders (in the default view) to hide the contents of the desktop.

Is this possible?

Also, can I add folders to the main list.. Like Windows 7 has the Downloads folder displayed in the main list (default view) by default. Can I add this folder?

Double click the desktop icon, or select it and press the left arrow. Explorer++ doesn't display the same items in the treeview as Win 7 Explorer, but you should be able to create a shortcut to the folders you want on the desktop, which will at least mean they're displayed when you open Explorer++.
